of St. Mark's Church near the Croatian government's building. #L#
The protester, Zeljko Spolodor, told reporters that their
conditions were their re-employment according to a list forwarded
to the government, and to make it possible to the protesters'
leader, Filip Lacic, who was injured during his arrest, to come back
to the St. Mark's church upon his departure from the hospital as
well as the withdrawal of all unlawful charges pressed against the
laid-off policemen, who had protested in front of the government's
building for six months.
Earlier in the day the police proposed to six remaining protesters,
who found shelter in St. Mark's Church after the ban on their
protest two days ago, to leave the church, with the assurances that
they would not be arrested. They were also told that they might ask
for being allowed to protest in the southern side of St. Mark's
square.
Shortly after five o'clock p.m. Friday, units of special police
withdrew from the area around the sacristy of the St. Mark's
church.
