ZAGREB, Sept 12 (Hina) - The "Jobs in the Park" training programme
will be held in Brezovica, near Sisak on Friday, the US Embassy in
Croatia said in a statement on Thursday. #L#
Ambassador Lawrence Rossin and Croatian Environmental Minister
Bozo Kovacevic will preside over the opening.
"The ceremony marks the beginning of the fifth training programme
founded by the US Agency for International Development in
coordination with the U.S. National Park Service and the Croatian
Environmental Protection Ministry. In the fall 2001, the programme
trained 20 Croatian young people in the Plitvice and Paklenica
National Parks and in spring 2002 another 20 were trained at Mljet
and Krka National Parks," the Embassy said in a statement.
The programme is part of USAID's efforts to revitalise the economy
and encourage new employment for young people residing in areas of
special state concern, including the return of refugees, the
embassy said.
Further development of national parks is seen as a primary engine of
economic growth, the embassy said.
