ZAGREB, Sept 11 (Hina) - The number of tourists in Croatia in the first seven months of 2002 rose by four percent to 4.6 million in comparison to the January-July period 2001.
ZAGREB, Sept 11 (Hina) - The number of tourists in Croatia in the
first seven months of 2002 rose by four percent to 4.6 million in
comparison to the January-July period 2001. #L#
Holiday-makers made 23.8 million overnight stays or by three
percent more than in the said period last year.
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of
foreign tourists rose by five percent to 3.8 million in the first
seven months of 2002 as against the same period 2001. They accounted
for 21 million overnight stays (three-percent rise).
The Bureau reported that there were 804,600 Croatian tourists
(three-percent rise) with 2.8 million overnight stays (one-percent
fall).
The most numerous foreign tourists were Germans. Their number in
the first seven months increased by eight percent to 806,600, and
they made 5.7 million overnight stays or five-percent rise.
Slovenians were the second-ranked with 537,300 arrivals and 2.8
million overnight stay, like in 2001.
They were followed by Italians who registered the number of
arrivals of 437,100 (two-percent rise), but Italians were the
fifth-ranked regarding the number of overnight stays, i.e. 1.5
million or four-percent more than in the first seven months of
2001.
Czech tourists with a four-percent fall in the arrivals to 415,000
were the third-ranked according the number of overnight stays, i.e.
2.6 million but this figure also showed a five-percent drop as
against the first seven moths of 2001.
In the first seven months of 2002, about 411,100 Austrians arrived
in Croatia (similar to the last year's January-July period) and
realised about two million overnight stays (one-percent fall).
