BELGRADE, Sept 9 (Hina) - The Bijelo Polje Higher Court on Monday sentenced a Bosnian Serb to 15 years in prison for war crimes against civilians, participation in the abduction, torture and killing of 20 Bosniaks who were on a train
at the Strpci train station on February 27, 1993. He told them he would trade them for imprisoned members of his paramilitary formation.
BELGRADE, Sept 9 (Hina) - The Bijelo Polje Higher Court on Monday
sentenced a Bosnian Serb to 15 years in prison for war crimes
against civilians, participation in the abduction, torture and
killing of 20 Bosniaks who were on a train at the Strpci train
station on February 27, 1993. He told them he would trade them for
imprisoned members of his paramilitary formation. #L#
The member of the paramilitary formation, Nebojsa Ranisavljevic,
will serve nine years, since six years were included in his
sentence, which he had spent in custody pending and investigation
and trial.
The trial began in 1998 and numerous witnesses took the stand who
confirmed that the then Serbian and Yugoslav leadership had known
that the abduction would occur.
