Also today, the ship "Alsuta" brought from the Italian port of Porto
Vesma a cargo of 6,000 tonnes of alumina for the Mostar factory.
The Mostar aluminium factory is currently using 30 percent of the
Ploce port's facilities. Ploce is the premier Croatian port for the
transhipment of cargo for Bosnia's economy, and its annual
reloading turnover is returning to the pre-war figure of over four
million tonnes.
In 2001 the Mostar factory used the Ploce port to import 236,520
tonnes of alumina, petroleum coke, and pitch, and to export 54,030
tonnes of raw aluminium products.
Under a new contract, a total of 82,825 tonnes of cargo has been
transhipped via Ploce for the Mostar factory thus far. A
transhipment of over 300,000 tonnes is expected by year's end.
