ZAGREB, Aug 28 (Hina) - After he returns from Johannesburg, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic will leave for Austria to participate in events marking the 20th anniversary of the Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution
at Schlaining Castle in Burgenland on September 6, the President's Office said in a statement on Wednesday.
ZAGREB, Aug 28 (Hina) - After he returns from Johannesburg,
Croatian President Stjepan Mesic will leave for Austria to
participate in events marking the 20th anniversary of the Austrian
Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution at Schlaining Castle
in Burgenland on September 6, the President's Office said in a
statement on Wednesday. #L#
Mesic will participate in a round table debate on the future of
South-East Europe. Participating in the discussion are also former
Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, the Special Coordinator for
the Stability Pact for South-East Europe, Erhard Busek, former High
Representative to Bosnia Wolfgang Petritsch, and Yugoslav Foreign
Minister Goran Svilanovic.
The Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution
(www.aspr.ac.at) was established in 1982 as an independent, non-
profit and non-partisan organisation promoting peace and the
peaceful resolution of conflicts. The Centre has established the
European University Centre for Peace Studies. In 1987 it was
awarded the UN's "Messenger of Peace" status, and in 1995 it won
UNESCO's award Education for Peace together with the University
Centre for Peace Studies.
