Prior to that Trajkovski spoke to NATO and the Organisation for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) representatives
stationed in Macedonia.
In a statement issued by the Macedonian president it is emphasised
that this criminal act could have been expected following the
infiltration of armed extremists from Kosovo whose aim was to
prevent the stabilisation of Macedonia and once again incite
violence.
Energetic and professional measures are required to counter these
criminal structures. Measures need to be taken by both the police
and military with the support of all citizens regardless of their
nationality, the statement said.
The Interior Ministry in Macedonia officially stated that early
Monday morning about 4 a.m., a criminal group of about four or five
unidentified persons in a passenger vehicle opened fire from
automatic weapons at a police check point killing two policemen.
The Interior Ministry is undertaking intensive measures to find the
perpetrators.
