LJUBLJANA, Aug 16 (Hina) - The issue of the Ljubljanska Bank's debt towards its depositors in the area of the former Yugoslavia is the finished matter for Slovenia, and it is possible that Ljubljana leaves the talks which are being
conducted on it within the Basel-based Bank for International Settlements (BIS), a former head of the Slovenian government's negotiating team in the talks on the succession to the former Yugoslavia said.
LJUBLJANA, Aug 16 (Hina) - The issue of the Ljubljanska Bank's debt
towards its depositors in the area of the former Yugoslavia is the
finished matter for Slovenia, and it is possible that Ljubljana
leaves the talks which are being conducted on it within the Basel-
based Bank for International Settlements (BIS), a former head of
the Slovenian government's negotiating team in the talks on the
succession to the former Yugoslavia said. #L#
Miran Mejak was quoted by the Slovenian financial journal "Finance"
as saying that his country should not allow that the Ljubljana
Bank's debt in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia and Macedonia be
treated as a issue within them problems of the succession to the
former Yugoslav federation.
If agreement might be reached in Basel, Slovenia should not accept
the payment of the compensation from its state budget, said Mejak,
who is believed to be the leading Slovenian expert in the succession
issues.
