ZAGREB, Aug 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Justice, Administration and
Local Self-Government Ministry has still not received a response
from Dutch competent bodies to whether they will give expert
evaluation in the Baxter case, the Ministry said in a Statement on
Monday. #L#
On April 29, the ministry forwarded a request to the Dutch Justice
Ministry for legal assistance of executing toxicological,
biological and histological evaluation in the Baxter case, which
should be performed at the TNO Laboratories in The Netherlands.
Since the Netherlands have not sent a reply to this day, the
Croatian ministry, in agreement with the Zagreb County Court
investigative department, decided to send an note urging
expedience to the Dutch Justice Ministry.
If competent bodies in The Netherlands accept the request, the
materials which they would be analysing would be sent via NCB
INTERPOL in Zagreb.
The independent analysis of tissue samples and dialysis machines
could prove the possible fault of the Baxter company's dialysis
machines for the death of 23 kidney patients who died during or
immediately after undergoing dialysis in Croatian hospitals.
