Once it is completed, this will be the longest tunnel in Croatia,
measuring about 5.7 kilometres. The total value of construction
works without VAT is estimated at about 261.7 billion kuna (around
35.60 million euros).
Croatian Roads (HAC) on Friday reported that the tunnel could be
completed by June 2005.
The Mala Kapela Tunnel is the most important facility on the
Bosiljevo-Sveti Rok section of the Zagreb-Split Highway. A
contract on the construction of the tunnel was signed on April 19
with the Italian construction company COOPCOSTRUTTORI. The company
is based in Argenta near Bologna and carries out construction,
maintenance and reconstruction works on roads, highways, bridges,
viaducts, tram lines, underground facilities, cable cars, and
airport runways.
