The water level in the Danube today was 682 cm, and it rises daily by
50 to 60 cm. The highest wave is expected on Wednesday or Thursday,
said Sarcevic after a headquarters session. For the threat to
become serious, the water level in the Danube should rise to 800 cm
or more, Croatian Waters experts have estimated.
Sarcevic said that the Croatian army, police, border police, water
companies, and local residents were all engaged in efforts to
defend themselves from possible floods. Today they were joined by
the members of the county fire-fighting department.
