Danube near Batina in eastern-most Croatia is growing and is currently 617 cm, the Osijek-Baranja County flood crisis centre said around 4 pm on Sunday. Due to the critical situation, works on the completion of part of the Danube embankment near Batina are underway. The biggest wave is expected on Tuesday, when the Danube might reach 820-830 cm. The embankment can hold a water level of 880 cm. Protection preparations are proceeding according to plan, said Pave Sarcevic, head of the flood crisis centre, adding that the army and the interior ministry have been engaged.
