Due to the critical situation, works on the completion of part of
the Danube embankment near Batina are underway.
The biggest wave is expected on Tuesday, when the Danube might reach
820-830 cm. The embankment can hold a water level of 880 cm.
Protection preparations are proceeding according to plan, said
Pave Sarcevic, head of the flood crisis centre, adding that the army
and the interior ministry have been engaged.
This afternoon the Danube flooded part of a road near Aljmas.
The water level of the Drava near Osijek is 309 cm, but the city is
not in danger, said Sarcevic.
