BRCKO, Aug 15 (Hina) - Hundreds of protesters who blocked the
Orasje-Tuzla road near the Arizona market in north-eastern
Bosnia's district of Brcko on Thursday morning, protesting against
the closure of their shops, dispersed in the afternoon. #L#
The road was unblocked after it was agreed that a ten-member
delegation representing the protesters would meet representatives
of Brcko's authorities later today in an effort to solve the
misunderstanding.
Inspectors started closing down the shops on Wednesday, claiming
they did not have working permits. The protesters stated the
opposite, maintaining they were paying taxes to the Brcko
authorities regularly.
Today the protesters were joined by a group of local Croats who the
district's authorities recently decided to dispossess of 15
hectares of land at the Arizona market, saying it was in public
interest.
Before dispersing, the protesters said they would block the Orasje-
Tuzla road again on Friday morning if tonight's meeting did not
settle the matter.
