Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac reported that in the first half of
this year, positive trends continued in the economy and the budget
was being realised in these conditions, basically, as planned.
Certain difficulties are noticeable in expenditure but these are
not that bad that we cannot overcome them, Crkvenac said.
The Government also discussed activities undertaken to open the
border crossing near Hrvatska Kostajnica as well as a report on
trends in the current tourist season.
Premier Ivica Racan welcomed new members to his government and told
them that he expected that they will contribute to the difficult
task waiting for the government.
He reiterated that the government would work intensively
throughout August.
We cannot afford to stall and take a "time out" in realising the
government's ambitious programme which has resulted in the vote of
confidence in the new government by the Croatian Sabor, Racan told
his ministers.
He specified that in August the government would meet each
Thursday, except on the Feast of the Assumption and that government
could use this long weekend as a holiday.
