Djindjic spoke before a parliamentary commission of inquiry
probing the possible abuse of senior state officials and their
associates.
Djindjic said the contents of conversations conducted by the state
leadership and the presidency of the DOS ruling alliance did not get
to the media and the public because of wiretapping but directly from
the participants in the conversations which, he added, were not
confidential.
Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica was not wiretapped, Djindjic
stated, voicing suspicion that the whole affair was fabricated by
Kostunica's cabinet and party in an attempt to divert public
attention from the government's successful reform steps.
The parliamentary commission of inquiry should complete its report
around Aug. 20, when it will be submitted to the Serbian parliament
for further discussion.
