The police arrested seven smugglers while one is still on the run
and an arrest warrant has been issued. The identity of the smugglers
would not be disclosed by Interior Ministry spokeswoman Zinka
Bardic and temporary principle of USKOK, Marinko Orlic. They only
released the initials of those arrested.
In the media however, their full names were released in the past
several days.
The group was set up in 1999 as a criminal organisation that dealt
with the smuggling of cigarettes in the region of the former
Yugoslavia, particularly from Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia and
Kosovo, with the purpose of reselling them in Croatia, the police
reported.
