Speaking about the economic situation, Ivancevic said that the
government crisis was affecting the country's business stability.
He expected it would cease soon and the new government perform its
tasks in a more responsible manner.
The HUP does not want to interfere in politics, but politics is
important because it influences the country's economic
development, he said, adding that the HUP and unions would draw up
and offer to the government new measures aimed at the reform of
labour legislation with implementation deadlines.
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County prefect Zlatko Komadina said that
one-third of companies in the county, predominantly shipyards and
tourist companies, were incurring losses. Those companies need
restructuring and their management should be taken to account, he
said. Politics must not be allowed to stop economic development,
which happens sometime, he said.
Today's session of the HUP branch also saw the presentation of a
project aimed at stimulating the development of tourism in the
Gorski Kotar region. The project is implemented by the association
"International Anthropology Centre" from Motovun. Funds for the
project have been provided by Britain's "Know-how fund" and the
Tourism Ministry.
