ZAGREB, July 26 (Hina) - Croatian premier designate Ivica Racan on Friday received the Chinese First Deputy Foreign Minister, Li Zhaoxing, who is heading a Chinese delegation on an a visit to Croatia, the Croatian government public relations office said in a statement.
ZAGREB, July 26 (Hina) - Croatian premier designate Ivica Racan on Friday received the Chinese First Deputy Foreign Minister, Li Zhaoxing, who is heading a Chinese delegation on an a visit to Croatia, the Croatian government public relations office said in a statement. #L# Racan informed his guest of the current political situation in Croatia and the process of forming a new government. He expressed Croatia's support to the policy of a "one China", to which China aspires. The Croatian official believes that China's internal issues should not be internationalised. With regards to his recent visit with the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, the Croatian premier designate said it was a private visit. The Chinese First Deputy Foreign Minister said that the persistence in mutual respect and the policy of non-interference regarding the internal matters, became firm foundations of the two countries' good relations. Both officials expressed satisfaction with the Croatia-China good political relations, but added that there was more room for cooperation in economy, culture and science. The Chinese official pointed to the importance of the signing of a memorandum on understanding, regarding the organised arrival of Chinese tourists in Croatia. Croatian President Stjepan Mesic also received the Chinese official. The misunderstanding about the recent visit of the Dalai Lama to Croatia and his private meeting with resigned Prime Minister Racan is history, China's first deputy foreign minister said after the talks with Croatia's head of state. During the Mesic-Zhaoxing talks, it was concluded that there were no open issues between China and Croatia, but only common interests. The Chinese official pointed to Mesic's recent visit to the People's Republic of China. He said the visit contributed to the development of bilateral relations.
