He added the bank's supervisory board had agreed with a financial
report on business in this year's first half.
Potkonjak and management board member Sanja Stojevic today
tendered their resignations, which the supervisory board accepted.
The new members will be appointed on July 31.
Potkonjak said the bank remained solvent, with growing business,
despite a recent discovery of illegal activities in the foreign
exchange directorate. The bank's US$98 million loss, made between
early 1998 and March 2002, was entirely included in the 2001
balance.
Assets at the end of June amounted to seven billion kuna (US$933.3
million), 14 percent less than at the same time last year and 34
percent less than in December 2001.
Deposits amount to 4.9 billion kuna (US$653.3 million), accounting
for 69 percent of the source of assets, of which more than one
quarter made by citizens. Between January and June 2002, these
deposits dropped by 36 percent.
