Public will be informed of members of the new government on Friday,
July 26, Racan said after an hour long talks with his coalition
partner, the president of the Croatian Peasants' Party and
parliament president, Zlatko Tomcic.
Racan did not speak about the composition of the new government in
detail.
He left open a possibility of the new government with a smaller
number of vice premiers, namely a government without first deputy
prime minister.
As a part of the preparations for the extraordinary session of the
parliament, the resigned government will hold a closed-door
session on Monday. The government is expected to formally forward
to the parliament a constitutional bill on the minorities.
Now it is definitely clear that the bill on the rights of minorities
would be included in the agenda of the extraordinary session, Racan
told reporters.
Consultations on the bill started with today's talks between the
presidents of the Social Democratic Party and the Croatian
Democratic Union benches, Mato Arlovic and Vladimir Seks. The
consultations should resume next week among representatives of
other party benches in the parliament.
A two third majority is necessary for the adoption of the
Constitutional Law on the Rights of Minorities. Considering that
101 MPs must vote for the law, votes of some opposition MPs will be
needed for the adoption of the bill.
