KARLOVAC, July 12 (Hina) - Croatia's outgoing Finance Minister Mato Crkvenac said during a visit to Karlovac on Friday that the state administration should be reduced and that there should be fewer ministries.

"The question is whether the smaller number of ministries would
decrease budget expenditure for the state administration. I
believe it would," Crkvenac said.
Asked about his position in the new government, he said that his
ministry was working full steam ahead, having agreed on new
programmes with the European Union today. All options are open, he
said, adding that his post as the finance minister was one phase in
his life and that he tried to do the best he could.
He said that the state administration and the judiciary were the
most important segments for the functioning of the state and
society and should therefore first be made more economical and then
reorganised.
