BELGRADE, June 8 (Hina) - A former Yugoslav Army reservist, Ivan Nikolic, was sentenced by the Prokuplje District Court on Monday to eight years in prison for war crimes committed against civilians during the 1999 NATO strikes on
Yugoslavia.

eight years in prison for war crimes committed against civilians
during the 1999 NATO strikes on Yugoslavia. #L#
According to the court ruling, on May 24, 1999 "during the war
conflict between the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and NATO,
Nikolic violated the international law of war by killing two
Albanian civilians in the village of Penduh near Podujevo".
After the proclamation of the verdict, Nikolic told the judge
presiding over the case, Dragan Tacic, that he would remember the
day he (Nikolic) completed serving his sentence.
