Following the closed working part of the government session, Racan
would sign his resignation and forward it to the Parliament
President, in line with the Constitution.
The President of the State will be notified about the resignation as
well, after which he will nominate the new premier designate,
government sources said.
The same sources also said Racan would tomorrow address government
members and ask them, among other things, to continue performing
their duties responsibly until they were formally relieved of duty
by parliament.
Racan's resignation will not be accompanied by an explanation, but
he will address TV audience about the reasons for his decisions.
Racan is expected to forward a calming message, with emphasis on the
estimate that the current coalition and government crisis was
caused by regular political issues which are being solved in line
with the Constitution and laws.
Government officials claim there is no crisis or a constitutional-
legal crisis in the country, but prefer the term "an exercise in
democracy". This should be confirmed by the fast resolution of the
current situation, they say, adding that they will see that the
constitutional deadline of 30 days for the composition of the new
government is shortened.
The current coalition partners, including the Social Liberals
(HSLS), will hold their last meeting in the government before
tomorrow's session.
