"The positions of parties in the ruling coalition are promising
with regards to the success of the effort of forming a new
government which will not consist of a coalition which will hinder
and block it," Racan told reporters ahead of a SDP Presidency
meeting.
The prime task of the coalition at this time is to show that Croatia
is not in a crisis, he said.
Racan said that at his party's session he would only ask for a
confirmation of stances pertaining to the recent occurrences in the
coalition which was already analysed and defined by the party.
Asked whether he would tender his resignation on Saturday, when a
government session has been announced, Racan did not want to
answer, but said "everything will be defined by the end of the week.
After noon or 1pm on Saturday you can plan your summer vacations".
Racan announced much work on forming a new government in order to
avoid early elections.
He added that they still had not come to discussing the formation of
a new government.
The five-party coalition has come to an end, Racan said. He added
that his cooperation with Drazen Budisa, the president of the
Social Liberals (HSLS), was as much good as bad. IT was, therefore,
logical for us to hold talks.
