"It is Slovenia's turn to make a move and to decide whether or not to
ratify the agreement, but it is an illusion to expect from the
Constitutional Court to pass a verdict before autumn," Slovene
state secretary in charge of power supply Robert Golob said.
He expressed hope that Croatia's claims from the Slovene side would
not be activated now that the agreement failed to become effective
within the set deadline.
"We shall see whether we are able to treat the issue of immediate
liabilities between July 1 and the time the agreement becomes
affective from a friendly aspect, or if new negotiations on the
financial part of the agreement will be reopened," Golob said.
At the request of the Krsko municipality and 31 MPs, the Slovene
Constitutional Court must decide whether or not regulations of the
agreement with Croatia are contrary to the Slovene Constitution.
Slovenia's head of state Milan Kucan told national television on
Sunday that in case the Constitutional Court decided that some
regulations were unconstitutional, the contentious regulations
should be changed and negotiations with Croatia would reopened.
