During talks focused on events caused by discussions on extending
the UN Mission's mandate in Bosnia, Powell pledged that the
American government would work on finding a solution which would
secure further stabilisation and development of Bosnia and the
entire region.
Powell said the US troops would not allow the job they were in Bosnia
for to remain unfinished.
The international High Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina,
Paddy Ashdown, who spoke with Powell on Monday, conveyed his
concern about the possibility of an abrupt end of the UN mandate in
Bosnia.
Ashdown travelled to London on Tuesday, after which he is to visit
Brussels.
Ashdown's spokesman Kevin Sullivan told reporters in Sarajevo on
Tuesday that the High Representative would hold talks with British
government officials in Downing Street, and hold meetings with the
European Commissioner for External Affairs and Security Issues,
Javier Solana, in Brussels.
