According to the head of the government office, Ivan Grujic, who
attended the exhumation, the victims are most likely civilians from
the Glina region who were killed in August 1991. The grave site in
the Kalina forest was discovered thanks to the exact and precise
information by a Serb returnee who voluntarily pointed out the spot
of the mass grave, Grujic said.
He stated that this was the 40th mass grave site in Sisak-Moslavina
County and the 134th in Croatia. The remains of 599 Serb war crimes
victims have been exhumed in this county, including 482 who have
been identified. Croatia is still tracing 301 persons from this
region.
The remains of 3,345 victims of the Serb aggression have been
exhumed so far in Croatia, including 2,744 who have been
identified. There are still 1,349 persons considered missing.
The exhumation on Thursday was attended by a representative of the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
