Attorneys Zeljko Olujic and Bosiljko Misetic, defence attorneys
for Tihomir Oreskovic, Ivan Kern, defence attorney for Mirko Norac,
and Mirko Ruzic, attorney for Ivica Rozic, returned to the
courtroom with a 15 minute delay and Saric fined them with 2,000
kuna each. She also ordered that all expenses for the day, including
travel expenses for the witnesses, be paid by the attorneys.
The head of the criminal police sector in 1991, Marijan Benko, took
the witness stand today. He spoke about talks he held with the then
head of the Gospic police public safety department, Zeljko Bolf.
Benko said that Bolf, whom he did not know then, came to see him
unannounced in Zagreb and sought work at the Zagreb police, for
family reasons. Benko said Bolf's reason for leaving Gospic was
vague and difficult to understand.
Benko refuted that in Zagreb Bolf was forced to write a report on
events in Gospic, as Bolf claimed in his testimony.
Benko said he had learnt about events in Gospic in 1991 mostly from
the media.
the trial to indictees for the abduction and killing of mostly
Croatian Serb civilians in Gospic in 1991 will continue on Friday.
