Racan said his estimate was based on the early season, which saw an
increase of more than 20 percent in foreign overnight stays and a
three-percent rise in the number of domestic overnight stays.
He could not confirm that the prices of electricity and gas would
soon go up by 15 and 12 percent respectively, or that the increase
would only affect citizens and not the industry as well. "It is
rather questionable if the burden of higher prices should be
shouldered by citizens alone," he said.
The prime minister said he was not satisfied with the way Croatia
was solving open problems with Slovenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Still, he does not consider the overall relations with Bosnia as
poor.
"A lot has been achieved, we must get used to the fact that we have
different (state) interests," he said.
Commenting on relations with Slovenia, Racan said the two countries
would have to solve problems one by one, hoping that those which can
be solved are not dramatised.
He could not say when he would meet Slovene Prime Minister Janez
Drnovsek.
Commenting on the import of genetically modified food, Racan said
Croatia would not ban it, but it would discourage it the way
European countries did.
