Testifying at the trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic, the US diplomat said that the Yugoslav government's
story had nothing to do with what he saw. He backed the testimonies
of witnesses who took the stand earlier in the trial.
Walker said he visited the village of Racak and talked to the
witnesses a day after 45 Albanian residents were killed.
During his testimony, Walker said he saw murdered elderly people,
dressed in civilian clothes sprinkled with blood. He said the
survivors told him that the army had attacked the village the day
before and abducted some men who were found dead on a hill near the
village a day after.
Walker said that neither uniforms nor weapons were found at the
crime scene. He added there were no traces of a struggle.
Among other things, Milosevic is charged with the slaughter of 45
Kosovo Albanians in Racak in January 1999.
