THE HAGUE, June 12 (Hina) - The ICTY Council of Appeals on Wednesday confirmed the prison sentences to three Bosnian Serbs indicted for crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of war, committed by enslaving and
raping Muslim women in the region of the eastern Bosnian town of Foca in 1992 and 1993.
THE HAGUE, June 12 (Hina) - The ICTY Council of Appeals on Wednesday
confirmed the prison sentences to three Bosnian Serbs indicted for
crimes against humanity and violations of the laws and customs of
war, committed by enslaving and raping Muslim women in the region of
the eastern Bosnian town of Foca in 1992 and 1993. #L#
The verdict for Dragoljub Kunarac, Radomir Kovac and Zoran Vukovic
is the first one under which rape and slavery are treated as a crime
against humanity.
Kunarac was sentenced to 28, Kovac to 20, and Vukovic to 12 years in
prison. The Council of Appeals has dismissed almost all elements of
the appeal.
