ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina)- President of the Serb National Party (SNS)
Milan Djukic on Friday forwarded an open letter to the Yugoslav
Foreign Minister in which he sharply protests because of a recent

The smaller percentage of Serbs in Croatia is the result of the war
and the victory of Milosevic's ideology in line with which Serbs
cannot live with other nations, the Yugoslav Foreign Minister,
Goran Svilanovic told the Belgrade's Beta news agency as aired by
Croatian media.
"Mr. Minister, this statement was either incorrectly reported or
your statement was a reflectioin of you misguidance without any
knowledge of our recent history or, even worse, is the official
stance of the ruling coalition to which you belong", Djukic said
referring to this as a "tragic" fact that attitudes such as this can
be expressed by the chief of Yugoslavia's diplomacy.
In his open letter, Djukic briefly describeed the calamity of Serbs
in Croatia from the regime during the Independent State of Croatia
(1941-1945) to the rule of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on to
the current difficulties with the reconstruction of homes and
employment.
Djukic amongst else recalled that Serbs had faced calamity in
Pakrac Valley, the Lora military prison, Gospic and other
locations. He recalled victims in houses that were burnt during the
"Storm" and "Flash" operations and asked the Yugoslav minister
whether he knew how many Serbs returned to Croatia and how many of
them had the right to their homes to be reconstructed or who found
jobs.
He concluded that Svilanovic "has no idea of the answers to these
questions because if he did he would not be able to say that Serbs do
not wish to live with other nations". Djukic concludeed by calling
on Svilanovic to "apologise to Serbs in Croatia", because of the
false claims expressed on their behalf and that in future he should
"not hamper their efforts if he can't help them".
