ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Friday met Sir Gordon Wu, Croatia's honorary consul to the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, the President's Office said in a statement.

The two officials agreed that there was mutual interest in
developing economic and other relations, as well as the necessary
potential.
Wu expressed satisfaction with the signing of an agreement on air
transport between Croatia and Hong Kong.
Sandra Lee, secretary at the Secretariat of the Government of the
Special Administrative Region's office for economic issues,
congratulated Mesic on Croatia's achievements on the international
political scene. She stressed the importance of Croatia's
membership in the WTO, and expressed hope the country would join the
EU and NATO in the not so distant future.
The talks also focused on Mesic's recent visit to China.
It was stated that Croatia could be Hong Kong's doorway to the
European market, and use Hong Kong as its doorway to the Chinese
market.
