Commenting on the government's announcement to amend the Penal Law
so that a retroactive application of the law could be made possible
for acts connected with the privatisation of companies, Sanader
told a news conference that this would be in opposition to all
international conventions.
The HDZ does not oppose the processing of crime in privatisation,
since it is of great importance for the public and the party itself
that it lives down what the ruling coalition is trying to impose on
it, he said.
Sanader dismissed the statements by the presidents of the Serb
Democratic Independent Party and Serb People's Party, Milorad
Pupovac and Milan Djukic, that the unofficial results of the recent
census in Croatia showed that genocide had been carried out against
Serbs in Croatia.
Aggression was carried out against Croatia, it had to defend the
constitutional and legal order on its own territory, that is the
only thing it did, Sanader stressed.
