The working group, which has been entrusted with preparing the
concept of judicial reform, includes Justice Minister Ingrid
Anticevic Marinovic, who is representing the executive
authorities, Supreme Court president Ivica Crnic and Chief State
Prosecutor Mladen Bajic, who represent the judicial authority, and
Parliament Vice-President Mato Arlovic, who represents the
legislative authority.
Racan said that the leaders of the legislative, executive and
judicial authorities, who are responsible for the situation in the
judiciary and its reform, exchanged views on measures to be taken to
redistribute obligations thus alleviating the pressure on courts
and solve the problem of an inadmissibly large number of cases where
the statute of limitations has taken effect.
The meeting, which was called by Prime Minister Racan and lasted
several hours, was attended by all invited members of Racan's
cabinet and ministers from all five ruling parties, chairmen of
parliamentary committees in charge of the judiciary, state-level
court presidents, the president of the State Judicial Council, and
the Chief State Prosecutor.
