Kosovo Ombudsman Marek Antoni Nowicki, who is on a five-day visit to
Kosovo Serb refugees in Serbia, stated earlier that there were no
conditions for the return of Serb refugees to Kosovo.
Nowicki's comments during his Serbian visit create a false picture
of the situation in Kosovo, says UNMIK in its statement.
Conditions for the return of minority refugees are not ideal, but in
the past year and a half almost 3,500 Serbs have returned to Kosovo,
says UNMIK.
UNMIK has been working together with UNHCR and other Kosovo
institutions on improving the return climate and has been making
progress in that field, reads the statement.
