Judge Slavko Lozina, who will chair the panel of judges to conduct
the trial, said the first witness to testify in the trial was Mihael
Budimir, a former commander of the military police's 72nd platoon.
Budimir's testimony is one of the testimonies the indictment is
based on.
Also to testify in the trial are 15 witnesses from Serbia who have
already been questioned in investigative proceedings. They have
requested protection during the trial, but it is not known how many
of them will testify.
The seven indictees have been in custody since last September.
The indictment against the seven was issued by former county
prosecutor Mladen Bajic in March this year. The former policemen
are accused of killing two and inflicting serious physical injuries
on several other Serb civilians at the Lora military prison.
