The first on the indictment, Iso Horvat, the founder and commander
of the Territorial Defence headquarters, and his first deputy
Branislav Poznanovic have been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The others have been given 13-year imprisonment sentences.
All the accused fled Croatia when occupied territories were
reintegrated into Croatia. Unavailable to the Croatian judiciary,
they were tried in absentia.
The indictment charged them with participating in the Serb armed
rebellion against Croatia, establishing the Territorial Defence
headquarters, and occupying a whole village between August 1991 and
August 1994. They were also accused of the physical and mental abuse
and expulsion of Croats from the village.
