Judge Ika Saric said the witness, who lives in Germany, had been
sent a subpoena via the Croatian Interpol office and the Interpol
office of the German province of Wiessbaden. The Croatian Interpol
will be requested to investigate if the witness received the
subpoena, she said.
According to witnesses, Oreskovic, a Gospic policeman in 1991, has
information about the murder of seven Croats in the village of
Bukovac, on the former front-line, in October 1991.
It is claimed that Oreskovic was directly acquainted with the
abduction and execution of Serb civilians in Gospic. Together with
two other witnesses, Zdenko Bando and Zdenko Ropac, Oreskovic left
Croatia several years ago, reportedly due to serious threats.
All three were reported to have given testimonies to the
investigators of the Hague war crimes tribunal.
The trial resumes tomorrow with the testimony of Zdenko Bando.
