MOSTAR, May 10 (Hina) - The Central Committee of the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) elected Barisa Colak from Siroki Brijeg acting president at a closed-door session on Friday, reads an official statement
released in Mostar after the vote.

Colak said that his election created conditions for the party to
register for participation in elections this autumn. However, he
did not confirm that the party would indeed take part in the
elections scheduled for October 5. He said that the decision on
participation in the vote would be adopted by the party's highest
body, the Assembly.
Colak succeeded Ante Jelavic, who resigned due to pressures by the
international community and threats that the HDZ would be banned
from participating in the election if he remained at its helm.
