"The agreement with the World Bank is not an obstacle for us to take
as much time as possible for good changes to the Labour Act," Granic
said after today's session of the Economic Social Council.
The government, employers and unions have agreed that a joint
working groups should within a fortnight suggest solutions for the
most contentious issues -- the definition of a small employer,
dismissal notices and severance pays.
Economy experts from all three parties will become involved in the
group which has not managed to agree on these issues in the past
several weeks.
The members of the Council agreed to establish a special working
group for reconciliation and arbitration, which will be visiting
Ireland and Hungary to get acquainted with their experiences in
alternative solving of labour issues.
Social partners on Monday began discussing raising competition in
Croatian economy. They said that requests for raising
competitiveness should be harmonised with the interest of
workers.
