ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - The Rijeka Municipal Court is the first court
in Croatia that has taken into account the opinion of journalists
and ruled in favour of a journalist, based on a decision adopted by
the Court of Honour of the Croatian Journalists' Association
(HND).#L#
In the ruling, issued by judge Ivana Buic, the dissmisal of a
journalist, Errol Superina from the "LA Voce del Popolo" was
considered unjust and the court ruled that the journalist be re-
instated.
The former Board Edita, the publisher of the La Voca daily printed
for the Italian minority in Croatia fired Superina because of a
serious violation of his working obligations. They accused him of
plagiarising a text from the Italian "Corriere della Sera" daily.
In the ruling passed last week, it is noted that the court council
was convinced of the unfounded grounds for these claims and took
heed of a decision by a council of the HND which according to the
court, "consists of absolutely competent people".
Superina, in the meantime, regardless of the court ruling, was
appointed as La Voce's chief editor.
