"Those who sleep at government and parliament sessions should begin
looking for new jobs, because after the next elections they will not
keep their offices," president of the Union of Croatian Workers'
Unions, Boris Kunst, said at a protest staged on Wednesday.
Unions are marking this year's International Labour day with
protests against announced changes to the Labour Act which, they
say, drastically reduce workers' rights.
President of the Union of Croatian independent Unions, Davor Juric
said workers would not make concessions to the government and
employers.
The government has no right to blame unions for its incompetence,
and solve problems to the detriment of workers, president of the
Independent Croatian unions, Kresimir Sever, said.
If the government keeps insisting on decreasing the rights of
workers, unions will organise further actions to defend the honour
of workers, Sever said.
