Speaking about the announced dismissal of 13,000 soldiers, Sanader
said that statements like Prime Minister Racan's comment that the
soldiers (given programmes of care) could be considered
privileged, were inadmissible.
This is impermissible, Sanader said, adding that the HDZ believed
the reorganisation was aimed at removing personnel who fought in
the Homeland War.
The HDZ is going to request a parliamentary debate on the matter,
Sanader announced.
The HDZ's president resolutely rejected statements by the
president of the Alliance of Anti-Fascist Fighters of Croatia
(SABH), Ivan Fumic, that the bill for houses destroyed outside the
war-affected regions should be delivered to the Tudjman and Susak
families.
That is an absolutely unacceptable statement, Sanader said.
President Tudjman condemned such events, he said, adding that the
HDZ government had condemned them as well, while the judiciary
handled hundreds of such cases.
Sanader said the 80th anniversary of the birth of Franjo Tudjman,
the first Croatian president and founder of the HDZ, would be
commemorated on May 14.
