ZAGREB, April 26 (Hina) - The Croatian Military Ordinariate on
Friday marked its fifth anniversary with a service at Zagreb's St.
Mark's Church, which was conducted by Military Ordinary Juraj
Jezerinac. #L#
Jezerinac said in his sermon that the foundations of the
ordinariate were laid by late Cardinal Franjo Kuharic, who
established a pastoral care directorate for soldiers and police
officers at the request of late President Franjo Tudjman.
Pope John Paul II established the Military Ordinariate with a
special document, called the bull, on April 25, 1997. Under the
bull, duties of the Military Ordinariate consist of "the permanent
and more reliable provision of spiritual guidance to those
followers of Christ who serve in land, naval and air forces, as well
as to the guardians of public order and peace".
