against Bosniaks and Croats. #L#
A spokesman for the United Nations Mission to Bosnia, Stefo Lehman,
stated on Thursday in Sarajevo that a check of the war dossiers of
some of the current police force in the Bosnian Serb entity had
identified Zeljko Dragic who, it is claimed, took part in the murder
of 50 non-Serb civilians in 1992. There is also evidence that Dragic
was involved in the killing of 220 civilians in Biljani near Kljuc.
Despite his war record, Dragic was employed as a police inspector in
Republika Srpska until now. Following the collection of relevant
evidence, his work licence was confiscated and he was suspended.
The same measures were imposed on Goran Dunovic, a policeman from
Bronzani Majdan near Banja Luka who, it is claimed, took part in the
expulsion of at least 30 Bosnian nationals.
Lehman confirmed that all the relevant information with regard to
the cases would be sent to the International Criminal Tribunal for
Former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
The IPTF investigation also identified Bosko Govedarica, a police
chief in Foca. Govedarica, a war-time chief of police in Kalinovik,
took part in the murder and expulsion of Bosniaks.
Another police officer, Almir Nuhanovic from Konjic, was
dispossessed of his police licence in line with a decision by the
IPTF Commissioner. Nuhanovic was a member of the military police in
the Bosnian Army and is responsible for the torture of prisoners at
the Celibici war camp.
