"A wide smile of the President became a business card of the new
Croatia, oriented towards democracy and European associations
(primarily the European Union), he extradited generals, who were
yesterday considered national heroes and today war criminals to the
Hague war crimes tribunal," Moscow's daily "Izvestia" said.
"He is the 'business card' of a young state which has, in a
fascinating fast pace, made a transition from war and
authoritarianism to an almost impeccable democracy. Mesic plays
the main role entirely successfully," the daily said.
Numerous other dailies, radio and television stations publish and
broadcast interviews with the Croatian President.
