ZAGREB, April 19 (Hina) - The "Juris Protecta" association for
legal aid on Friday recommended that Justice Minister Ingrid
Anticevic Marinovic ask the State Judicial Council (DSV) to replace
judges who opposed her decisions. #L#
The association's president Zlatko Zeljko asked the Justice
Minister in an open letter what she intended to do about an insult
levelled at her by Vrbovec Municipal Court judge Milan Kranjac, who
stated on Thursday's Croatian Television (HTV) news that the
minister was lying.
"Juris Protecta" suggests that the minister request the DSV to
replace judge Kranjac.
The association also notes that resistance to establishing a law-
based state is coming from judges, who in fact should be promoting
it, and that the Association of Croatian Judges is trying to keep
the judges' privileged position in society with as little
responsibility for their actions as possible.
The "Juris Protecta" claims that in keeping with western European
standards it would be inadmissible for a judge to disobey the
Justice Minister, accuse the minister of lying, and keep his post.
