"The police today unsealed the Archive offices and the Intelligence
Agency, which is the legal successor of the UNS, took over the UNS
materials in line with the Law on Security Services," Ministry
spokeswoman Zinka Bardic told Hina.
The UNS materials were transferred to the Archive on March 29 and
30, after former UNS head Tomislav Karamarko and Archive head Josip
Kolanovic signed an agreement on the transfer of the materials.
The new Law on Security Services envisages three secret services,
instead of former four: the Intelligence Agency, the Counter-
Intelligence Agency and the Military Security Agency.
Government officials confirmed today that Franjo Turek, former
head of the Service for the Protection of the Constitutional Order
(SZUP), was appointed last Friday acting director of the Counter-
Intelligence Agency for a period of one month.
